Freshers are greeted by a light and interesting coursework in the first semester, which is quite a relief after the entrance exam season. Non-Math and Non-Bio students need not worry about Bio or Math respectively, as both of them are taught right from the very basics and are built up slowly. 

Be prepared for some surprises in Maths, which will have some “exotic” topics unheard of by most of the freshers. 

The more fun part of the first-year course would be the labs. One would get a chance to regularly work in high end research labs, which definitely are more engaging than your regular school labs. And sure, one can always have “mastitym” by mixing two explosives together in the chemistry lab or blowing up a few capacitors in the electronics lab.
